A DayZ server reads its loot, events, weather and gameplay settings from one mission folder: the one for the map it runs. Every map has its own copy of every file, so a change made in the Chernarus folder does nothing on a Livonia server.
The folder for each map
- Chernarus:
dayzOffline.chernarusplus - Livonia:
dayzOffline.enoch - Sakhal:
dayzOffline.sakhal
On Nitrado these sit inside dayzxb_missions on Xbox, dayzps_missions on PlayStation and mpmissions on PC. So the Livonia files of an Xbox server are in dayzxb_missions/dayzOffline.enoch.
Files in the db folder: the central economy
types.xml: the loot table.events.xml: vehicles, crashes, animals and infected.globals.xml: server-wide economy values and timers.economy.xml: what spawns, loads and is saved.messages.xml: welcome notes, repeating messages and restart countdowns.
Files in the mission folder itself
cfggameplay.json: gameplay rules, read only when it is turned on in your Nitrado server settings.cfgspawnabletypes.xml: attachments and cargo on spawned items.cfgeventgroups.xml: objects that spawn together.cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml: where fresh spawns appear.cfgweather.xml: the weather.cfgeffectarea.json: contaminated zones.cfgundergroundtriggers.json: dark bunkers and tunnels.
Files you add yourself, such as spawn loadouts, can go in a subfolder like custom. Paths in cfggameplay.json are relative to the mission folder.
Switching maps
When you switch your server to another map, it starts reading that map's folder. Your edits to the old map stay in the old folder and are not copied over, so redo the ones you want in the new folder. The free types.xml Compare shows every change you made to a file, which makes that quicker.
On Xbox and PlayStation servers, the dashboard's Server Files page opens the mission folder for the map your server runs, and keeps the last 15 versions of every file.
