Place buildings, walls and props on the map and get an object spawner file for cfggameplay.json: the way to add custom places to an Xbox, PlayStation or PC server without mods. Pick an object, click the map, set the rotation and let the builder estimate the ground height from Bohemia's buildings nearby.

How the object spawner works

DayZ can place extra objects when the server starts, listed in JSON files that cfggameplay.json names under WorldsData.objectSpawnersArr. Each file holds an Objects list; each object has a class name, a position pos as [X, height, Z], a rotation ypr as [yaw, pitch, roll] in degrees and a scale.

  • The height is above sea level. The builder estimates it from Bohemia's buildings nearby (mapgrouppos.xml), which is close in towns; check it in game.
  • Objects placed this way are part of the map: they don't decay and players can't pack them up.
  • cfggameplay.json has to be turned on in your Nitrado settings for any of this to load.

The cfggameplay.json Editor edits the list of object files, and the DayZ File Checker checks an object file before you upload it.

Add the objects to a Nitrado server

  1. Download the file here and upload it with Nitrado's file browser into your mission folder, for example into a custom folder.
  2. Open cfggameplay.json and add the path under WorldsData: "objectSpawnersArr": ["custom/objects.json"].
  3. Check that cfggameplay.json is turned on in your Nitrado server settings, then restart the server.

Questions

How do I add custom buildings to a console server?

With an object spawner file: a JSON file in the mission folder that cfggameplay.json lists under objectSpawnersArr. Place the objects here, download the file, upload it to a folder such as custom, and add its path to objectSpawnersArr. It works on Xbox and PlayStation, with no mods.

What is the height (Y)?

The height above sea level the object is placed at, in metres. DayZ puts the object exactly there, so a height of 0 buries it. The editor can estimate the ground height from Bohemia's buildings nearby, close to towns within a few metres. Check it in game and adjust: a little lower sinks the object into the ground, a little higher makes it float.

What do yaw, pitch and roll mean?

The rotation in degrees. Yaw turns the object around (0 faces north, 90 east), pitch tips it forward or back and roll tilts it sideways. Most buildings only need yaw.

Why don't my objects appear?

Check that cfggameplay.json is turned on in your Nitrado settings, that the file's path is listed in objectSpawnersArr exactly as it is in the mission folder, and that every name is a real class name. Objects spawn when the server starts, so restart it.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The builder runs in your browser. Only Apply to server sends the finished file to your own Nitrado server.
