Open the cfgweather.xml from your mission folder, or start from Bohemia's vanilla file for your map, and set clouds, fog, rain, wind, snow and lightning with sliders. One click turns off fog or rain. It checks every value and downloads a clean file for PC, Xbox and PlayStation servers.

What cfgweather.xml controls

cfgweather.xml sits in the root of the mission folder and sets the server's weather: clouds (overcast), fog, rain, wind speed and direction, snowfall and lightning (storm). It only takes effect when the root tag has enable="1". With reset="1" the weather starts from the file's values at every restart instead of carrying on from where it was.

Each part has the same building blocks. current is the value at server start, the seconds to get there and the seconds it stays. limits keeps the weather between a lowest and highest value. timelimits sets how long each change takes, and changelimits how big one change can be. Rain and snow also have thresholds: the cloud range they need, and the seconds they take to stop once the clouds leave it.

Edit cfgweather.xml on a Nitrado server

  1. Open the file browser in the Nitrado web interface and go to your mission folder: dayzxb_missions/dayzOffline.chernarusplus on Xbox, dayzps_missions/… on PlayStation. Livonia uses dayzOffline.enoch and Sakhal dayzOffline.sakhal.
  2. Download cfgweather.xml and keep an untouched copy.
  3. Open it here, change what you need and check that "Use this file" is ticked.
  4. Download the edited file, upload it over the old one and restart the server.

On Xbox and PlayStation servers running Law's KillFeed, the dashboard's Server Files page opens, checks and uploads cfgweather.xml for you and keeps the last 15 versions of every file; its easy editor is on the paid plan.

Questions

I changed cfgweather.xml but the weather is the same. Why?

Check that the root tag says enable="1": with enable off the server ignores the file and uses its own weather. Then restart the server, because DayZ reads the file at start. With reset off the server can carry on from the weather it saved, so turn reset on if you want it to start from your values.

How do I get rid of fog?

Set fog's current value and both of its limits to 0, or use the No fog button above. Turn reset on so it starts clear after every restart.

How do I stop rain?

Set rain's limits to 0, or use the No rain button. Rain only falls while the clouds are inside its thresholds, so raising the threshold minimum above the highest cloud value also keeps it dry.

What does windDirection use?

Radians, from -3.14 to 3.14. 0 and 3.14 are opposite directions.

Is my cfgweather.xml uploaded anywhere?

No. The editor runs in your browser. Your file is read, edited and saved on your own device and never sent to our server. The vanilla buttons load Bohemia's file straight from their public GitHub repository.

Does this work for Xbox and PlayStation servers?

Yes. Console servers on Nitrado use the same cfgweather.xml format as PC. Download it from the mission folder in Nitrado's file browser, edit it here and upload it back.
