Some DayZ events spawn more than one object at a time, such as a train wreck made of several wagons. cfgeventgroups.xml defines those sets. Each group is a list of objects with their place relative to one spawn point, so the whole scene can appear anywhere the event uses it.
How the files work together
events.xmldefines the event: how many to keep on the map and how often they come back.cfgeventspawns.xmllists where the event can appear. A position withgroup="…"spawns that group there.cfgeventgroups.xmldefines the group: which objects, and where each one sits from that position.
What each object in a group has
- type: the object's class name, such as
Land_Train_Wagon_Box_Red. - x, y, z: metres from the event position. y is up.
- a: the angle in degrees, which turns the object.
- lootmin / lootmax: how much loot the object can spawn with.
- deloot: 1 marks dynamic event loot, 0 normal loot.
Add or change a group
- Download
cfgeventgroups.xmlfrom your mission folder and keep a copy as a backup. - Add a
<group name="…">with one<child>per object, or change the positions in an existing group. - In
cfgeventspawns.xml, give the event's positionsgroup="…"with the same name. - Upload both files and restart the server.
Group names have to match exactly, and two groups must not share a name. Positions, angles and loot values are numbers with a dot for decimals.
Editing with Law's KillFeed
On Xbox and PlayStation servers, the dashboard's Server Files page opens cfgeventgroups.xml in an easy editor on the paid plan: one card per group, a table of objects with item suggestions, and only the groups you change are written back, so comments and the rest of the file stay as they were. The cfgeventspawns.xml editor suggests the group names from your file, and every upload is checked for duplicate names, missing types and loot values that don't add up.
