Open the types.xml from your server's db folder, change how much of each item spawns and save a clean copy. It works for PC, Xbox and PlayStation servers, checks your edits for common mistakes, and runs entirely in your browser.

What each types.xml field does

Every item in DayZ's central economy has a <type> entry in types.xml. These are the fields you can change:

nominal
How many of the item the economy aims to keep on the server. 0 means it never spawns as loot.
min
When the count drops below this, the economy spawns more, back up towards nominal.
lifetime
Seconds the item can lie untouched before it despawns. 3600 is one hour, 14400 four hours.
restock
Seconds the economy waits before respawning the item once the count is below min. 0 means as soon as it can.
quantmin / quantmax
How full the item spawns, in percent: rounds in a magazine, liquid in a bottle, uses left. -1 means the field is not used.
cost
Spawn priority. The vanilla files use 100 for almost everything.
flags
Where copies count towards nominal: in containers (count_in_cargo), in tents, barrels and stashes (count_in_hoarder), on the map (count_in_map), on players (count_in_player). crafted marks items players make rather than find, deloot marks loot from dynamic events such as helicopter crashes.
category
The loot category, such as weapons, tools, clothes, containers, food or explosives.
usage
The kind of place it spawns in, such as Military, Police, Medic, Farm, Industrial, Town, Village, Coast or Hunting.
value
The map tiers it spawns in, Tier1 near the coast to Tier4 deep inland, or Unique.
tag
The spot inside a building, such as floor, shelves or ground.

Edit types.xml on a Nitrado server

  1. Stop the server in the Nitrado web interface.
  2. Open the file browser and go to your mission's db folder. On Xbox that is dayzxb_missions/dayzOffline.chernarusplus/db, on PlayStation dayzps_missions/dayzOffline.chernarusplus/db. Livonia uses dayzOffline.enoch and Sakhal dayzOffline.sakhal.
  3. Download types.xml and keep an untouched copy as a backup.
  4. Open it here, make your changes and fix anything marked as a problem.
  5. Download the edited file, upload it over the old one and start the server.

A broken types.xml can stop loot from spawning or keep the server from starting, which is why the editor checks the file before you save it. On Xbox and PlayStation servers running Law's KillFeed, the dashboard's Server Files page opens, checks and uploads types.xml for you and keeps the last 15 versions of every file; editing in place is on the paid plan. The guides cover the other files console servers use.

Questions

Is my types.xml uploaded anywhere?

No. The editor runs in your browser. Your file is read, edited and saved on your own device and never sent to our server.

Why don't my changes show up in game?

The central economy reads types.xml when the server starts, so restart after you upload the file. Items already in the world stay until they are picked up or their lifetime runs out.

How do I make an item spawn more often?

Raise its nominal and min. Use the bulk tools to scale a whole category, such as all weapons, by a factor, and check that min never ends up higher than nominal.

How do I stop an item from spawning?

Set its nominal and min to 0. Keep the entry in the file rather than deleting it.

Does this work for Xbox and PlayStation servers?

Yes. Console servers on Nitrado use the same types.xml format as PC. Download the file from Nitrado's file browser, edit it here and upload it back.
