Open the cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml from your mission folder, or start from Bohemia's vanilla file, and see where fresh spawns, server hoppers and travellers appear. Click the map to add a spawn position, click a point to move or delete it, rename or add groups and change the spawn checks, then download the file for PC, Xbox or PlayStation.
The map picker only changes the background and the bounds check; pick the map your server runs.

What cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml controls
Where a new character appears is set in cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml in the root of the mission folder. It has three sections: fresh for new characters, hop for players who come from another server and travel for travel spawns. Each section has its own positions and its own rules.
spawn_paramsSpawn checks- Distances a spawn point must keep, in metres.
generator_paramsSpawn point grid- How spawn points are spread around each position.
group_paramsGroupsgenerator_posbubblesPositions- The spawn positions, as X and Z, usually in named groups. Around each one the server lays a grid of the width and height in the spawn grid settings, shown as a box around the selected group's points, and picks spawn spots from it, checked against the distances in the spawn settings.
The guide DayZ fresh spawn points explains every setting. To choose what fresh spawns wear and carry, use the Spawn Loadout Generator.
Move the spawns on a Nitrado server
- Open the file browser in the Nitrado web interface and go to your mission folder:
dayzxb_missions/dayzOffline.chernaruspluson Xbox,dayzps_missions/…on PlayStation. Livonia usesdayzOffline.enoch, SakhaldayzOffline.sakhaland NasdaradayzOffline.nasdara. - Download
cfgplayerspawnpoints.xmland keep an untouched copy. - Open it here, change the positions and download the result.
- Upload it over the old file, under the same name, and restart the server.
On Xbox and PlayStation servers running Law's KillFeed, the dashboard's Server Files page opens, checks and uploads this file for you and keeps the last 15 versions of every file.
Questions
How do I change where fresh spawns appear?
Open cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml here, stay on Fresh spawns, pick a group and click the map to add positions, or delete the ones you don't want. Download the file, upload it to your mission folder and restart.
Can I make everyone spawn in one town?
Yes. Delete the other fresh groups, or their positions, and add positions around that town. Keep the spawn checks, so players don't land on top of each other.
What are the hop and travel sections?
Hop is used for players who come from another server, travel for travel spawns. They have their own positions and settings, so change them too if you want those players in the same place.
What does a group do?
A group is a named set of positions. With groups on, the server spawns players at one group until its lifetime or player count runs out, then moves on to another, so fresh spawns do not all land in the same spot.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The editor runs in your browser and your file never leaves your device. The vanilla button loads Bohemia's file straight from their public GitHub repository.
Does this work for Xbox and PlayStation servers?
Yes. The file format is the same on every platform. It sits in the root of your mission folder, next to the db folder.
