Open the cfgEffectArea.json from your mission folder, or start from Bohemia's vanilla file, and see every static contaminated zone on the map. Click a zone to edit it, click the map to move it, add new gas areas or remove old ones, and download valid JSON for PC, Xbox and PlayStation servers.
The map picker only changes the background and the bounds check; pick the map your server runs.
Y 0 puts the zone on the ground. Leave a field empty to remove it from the zone.

What cfgEffectArea.json controls
The static contaminated zones, the gas areas players need protection to enter, are listed in cfgEffectArea.json in the root of the mission folder. Bohemia's Chernarus and Livonia files spell it cfgEffectArea.json and Sakhal's cfgeffectarea.json; keep the name your server already has. Each zone under Areas has a name, a type, a trigger, a position and a size, plus the gas particles that make it visible. SafePositions is a separate list of X and Z points.

Edit it on a Nitrado server
- Open the file browser in the Nitrado web interface and go to your mission folder:
dayzxb_missions/dayzOffline.chernaruspluson Xbox,dayzps_missions/…on PlayStation. Livonia usesdayzOffline.enoch, SakhaldayzOffline.sakhaland NasdaradayzOffline.nasdara. - Download the contaminated area file and keep an untouched copy.
- Open it here, change the zones and download the result.
- Upload it over the old file, under the same name, and restart the server.
On Xbox and PlayStation servers running Law's KillFeed, the dashboard's Server Files page opens, checks and uploads this file for you and keeps the last 15 versions of every file; its easy editor is on the paid plan.
Questions
How do I add a contaminated zone?
Click Add a zone, give it a name, then type its X and Z position or click the map to place it, and set the radius. The new zone copies the gas particles of the zone you had open, so it looks like the vanilla ones. Download the file, upload it and restart.
How do I remove the gas from a place?
Delete that zone's card and download the file. The editor writes valid JSON, so there are no stray commas to fix.
What are the safe positions?
Points on the map, as X and Z, listed under SafePositions in the same file. They are shown as small dots on the map so you can see them next to your zones.
Why does the file look different after I save it?
The editor writes the JSON with even 4-space indentation. The values and their order stay the same; only the spacing changes, which DayZ does not mind.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The editor runs in your browser and your file never leaves your device. The vanilla buttons load Bohemia's file straight from their public GitHub repository. The one exception is Apply to server: when you click it, the finished file goes through us to your own Nitrado server.
Does this work for Xbox and PlayStation servers?
Yes. The file format is the same on every platform. It sits in the root of your mission folder, next to the db folder.
