On DayZ a ban is on a name, and a name is easy to change. Your server's logs record more than the name though: every connection carries the game account's id. Law's KillFeed keeps those ids, so a banned account that comes back under a new name gets the same ban, and staff see every name an account used.
In game
- Ban evasion: when a banned account connects under a new name, the new name gets the same ban, with a notice for staff. On by default, on every plan, on the Anti-Cheat page.
- New name alerts: the Admin Channel hears when an account joins under a new name, titled "Banned account back under a new name" when an old name is banned.
/alts: type any name and see each account that used it, its other names, where it played and its bans.- A name two accounts share is never banned automatically, so a faked name can't get its real owner banned.
The logs don't show a console, device or IP, so a second account on the same console is a different account to the game. Those are caught through Discord: the same Discord account linked to both gamertags, or verification below.
In your Discord
- Open Verification in your server's settings and press Set up verification: it makes a Verified role, a #verify channel with the panel and a staff log channel.
- Members verify on the website with their Discord account. Lock the server on the Verification page and the rest of the Discord opens only once they have.
- The bot compares each verification with the others of your Discord, using one-way hashes of the network, device and browser, never the raw values.
- Alts are logged or held: an alt of a banned member, a young account or a VPN can be held for review, kicked or banned.
Verification, the minimum account age and alerts are free. Quarantine, kicks, bans, the VPN block and the limit on accounts per person are on the paid plan.
